Thinking about music gear. It really doesn't matter what you have or what you use to make music. You can use anything. The sounds are there already, you just have to find them. It doesn't have to cost much. There's a lot of economic gatekeeping to music making and it's bullshit.
One way I succumb to the academic culture of overwork is by internalizing the idea that many crucial aspects of my job aren't *actually* work. I'll spend a day full of meetings, class prep, or admin duties chastising myself for slacking off because I wasn't researching or writing
